remembering sarah

Fifteen years ago today, our niece, Sarah DeJong, daughter of Mark’s oldest brother, Paul and his wife Sandy, was unexpectantly taken from this life in a car accident.

Dear Paul, Sandy and Daniel,

I just want you to know that we have not forgotten beautiful Sarah. She was a bright and shining star, touching many lives with the love of Jesus. Paul and Sandy, you have been a testament to God’s grace and strength, back when the pain was raw and as life continued on.  Daniel, I know it has not been an easy road for you either, to lose your sister, but we rejoice at what God has done in your life. We are thankful that you have chosen to allow God to make something beautiful out of the pain, instead of turning it into bitterness.

Today, may your hearts be filled with joy in the wonderful memories of Sarah.

Thinking of you with love and respect,

Ruthi and family

UPDATED: The beautiful photo of Sarah was taken by her talented father Paul DeJong. If you live in the Augusta, Georgia area and need a photographer, he is the one to call. Visit their website at http://www.gardenhousephotography.com/

  1. thank you for this beautiful tribute to Sarah. We’ve been talking a lot about Sarah this weekend with the grandkids. Raylyn Sarah and Hannah always want to know little tidbits of information about what their Aunt Sarah was like. Both of theses little girls have and do things that remind us of their Aunt. Sarah would have loved her nieces and nephews to pieces! Probably spoilt them worse than I do!

  2. Aunt Ruthi,
Thank you for sharing this. I read it and tears welled up in my eyes as I remembered the day like it was yesterday. She was a beautiful person and friend and I look forward to the day when I get to see her beautiful smile again!
