my 2010 word

I am a doer.

Need something done? Just ask me. It’s hard for me to say “no”.

Being busy is normal for me. Maybe the busyness makes me feel valued. Maybe not being busy sounds a little boring. Or scary. I like being busy, but dislike being overwhelmed and stressed. Maybe it’s getting older and not being able to multi-task like I use to.

Or maybe, just maybe, I am coming to understand that being is more important than doing.

The past few weeks I have been looking for a word or a phrase that will help me focus on what God wants to teach me in 2010.

Last year it was Simplify… my house, my life, etc. I spent a lot of energy in 2009 purging my house of things that I thought were not useful or beautiful. And my focus has been just that… on my house/things.

But this year I want to focus on a different area.

Through a book I purchased a couple months ago, scripture, conversations with friends, and time being quiet, it became clear what my word would be.

My 2010 word is

Be Still

It’s about being not doing.

If I can learn to just be, the rest will fall into place.

Here’s the book that is helping me get started.

I am looking forward to sharing this journey of Being Still with you in 2010.

So now you know my word.

What’s yours?
