He Maketh No Mistake

When Dad was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, they sedated him some while they did some adjustments to his medications. It was hard to see him in that condition. But Tuesday night they stopped the sedatives, so when we visited him Wednesday afternoon, we were glad to see him “back”. When Mom and I walked into his room, he was awake and smiling said, “are you kidding me?!”, something he would say if something special had happened. That morning I was sitting at his desk in my parent’s study and I found his old Pastor’s Manual. On the inside cover he had attached his favorite poem. I bet some of you already know which one i am talking about. As I read it to him in the hospital, he mouthed the words for a couple lines and when I finished reading it, he said, “Fantastic!”. God is good to give us such gifts!

My Father’s way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache,
But in my soul I’m glad I know,
He maketh no mistake.

My cherished plans may go astray,
My hopes may fade away,
But still I’ll trust my Lord to lead
For He doth know the way.

Tho’ night be dark and it may seem
That day will never break;
I’ll pin my faith, my all in him,
He maketh no mistake.

There’s so much now I cannot see,
My eyesight’s far too dim;
But come what may, I’ll simply trust
And leave it all to Him.

For by and by the mist will lift
And plain it all He’ll make,
Through all the way, tho’ dark to me,
He made no mistake.
