an update on Dad

Since my last update, there has not been much change as far as Dad’s health goes. He continues to have good days and bad days, his eating is fair and he seems calm most of the time.

What has changed is that as of Friday, he no longer qualifies for Medicare, since he is finished with therapy. We are now on private-pay status until we are able to apply for Medicaid. This is a whole new world to us and admittedly a bit overwhelming at times. Thankfully, we have people helping us navigate through this adventure. We would so appreciate your prayers on Wednesday this week. We have an important meeting and are asking God for his wisdom and clear discernment.

Hospice is now part of the team that cares for Dad at the Towers. Mom and I met with them this past Friday and also today. We are encouraged that they will be another set of eyes and ears for us and will be that “go-to” person that I have been looking for. At the same time, it means a new set of people to get acquainted with…not only for Mom and I but for Dad as well. Pray that this will be an uneventful change.

Dad’s primary physician came for a visit on Friday and was excited to see how well he looked since his last visit two weeks prior. He also commented that Mom looked more rested.

I feel like a broken record, but your emails and comments continue to be a source of strength and comfort to us. Thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts.

  1. Another bend in the road, another life to be touched by Christ by the bend in Art’s road. Praying for each of you to know His mighty help and strength TODAY.

  2. Your parents are so fortunate to have your care, attention, support, guidance and love, Ruthi. Your faith has brought you far. Continue to embrace and rely upon it.
