dancin’ in the minefields

{This post was inspired by the music and lyrics of
Andrew Peterson ~ Dancing in the Minefields}

Dear Mark,
I was 19 you were 18 when we took our vows.
Some said we were too young and we’d be in for trouble.
But we did it anyway… 32 years ago.

And it was harder than we dreamed
But I believe that’s what the promise was for
cause we bear the light of the son of man
So there’s nothing left to fear
So I’ll walk with you in the shadow lands
Till the shadows disappear
Cause he promised not to leave us
And his promises are true
So in the face of this chaos baby
I can dance with you

So lets go dancing in the minefields
Lets go sailing in the storms
Oh lets go dancing in the minefields
And kicking down the doors
Oh this is harder than we dreamed
But I believe that’s what the promise is for.

Happy Anniversary, Babe!
thanks for keeping your promise

  1. What a lovely song…the words are so true but with God’s grace we muddled
through. Hal and I were married 34 yrs. with hard going for 30 but the
last years were a gift from God and a reward for having stuck together
through all the mine fields. Thanks for sharing this; it will color my day
    with joy.

  3. Congratulations Ruthie and Mark!
How awesome 32 years! Sadly, I don’t have very many family or friends in my generation that stayed married…including myself. I am so blessed to know the both of you. I pray you will have many more years together.
